My love for music seems to traverse beyond borders. I have been lucky to represent India on not only national platforms, but international, as well. I will forever be grateful for the support and love that I have received to be the Bengali and Hindi singer that I am today.
As many of you might already know, I, Madhuri Dey, come from a very humble background and music is my life. I started learning music from a very small city in the periphery of Kolkata. I had a dream of making it big in the world of music from very early on in life and I continue to strive towards that end with the blessings of you all.
My passion for music drove me to perform at various reality shows in Kolkata. Also, I received a lot of appreciation when for my performances representing various academies of the state government. All the applause and adulation egged me on to work towards making it big on the national platform. I wanted to establish a name for myself at the national level and after a lot of trepidation and hard-work, I got selected in Mumbai’s Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, which is a very prestigious competition at the international level. Being the only representative of West Bengal in such a platform was nerve-racking and exciting, all at the same time.
After my very memorable stint at Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, I worked as a playback singer in two Bengali films. I received a lot of recognition as a Tollywood singer. From there on, I did not look back anymore! Slowly, but steadily work opportunities started trickling in. I have been blessed to have got the chance to show my musical talent on both national and international levels.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with several talented individuals from Bollywood and Tollywood. Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji, Jatin Lalit, Asha Bhosle, Lahiri, Kumar Shanu, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Govindaji, Bappi, Tafik Qureshiji, Usha Uthup, Johnny Lever, Shankar Mahadevan, Sajid-Wajid, Bhupendra Singhji, Mitali Singh, Suresh Bhatkar, Sadhna Sargam and Kavita Krishnamurthy are a few of the notable musicians and singers who I’ve been blessed to work with.
In such a brief span of my as a Tollywood and Bollywood singer, I have come in close contact with so many highly-talented and terrific personalities that the list will simply go on. I hope to continue doing good work and honing my skills as a Hindi and Bengali Singer!
